The judgement of the Scientific Committee, made up of international representatives of ATRIUM, architecture historians, professional photographers and members of the Spazi Indecisi association is final and based on the following criteria: building/contest theme matching from a historical standpoint, photographic/video technical quality and creativity.

The photo selected as “Best work” of the call evokes the sense of order, cleanliness and accuracy that characterize architectural photography, while showing at the same time a great color composition. The sense of perspective is blocked by the front wall, that hinders sight and forces it to look for a vanishing line. For this reason, the image is a perfect representation of the message of “Totally Lost”: like in this image, the eye is constantly pursuing stillness and a subject to lean on to.
La foto segnalata come vincitrice del concorso richiama l’ordine, la pulizia e il rigore della fotografia di architettura, mantenendo un’ottima composizione cromatica. Il senso di prospettiva viene interrotto dalla parete frontale che blocca lo sguardo obbligandolo a cercare una via di fuga. L’immagine diviene quindi perfettamente rappresentativa del messaggio di “Totally Lost” come avviene per il movimento dell’occhio all’interno di questa inquadratura: rimane alla continua ricerca di una quiete e di un soggetto sui cui appoggiarsi.

The photo receiving the special mention for the section “Abandoned totalitarian architecture in contemporary life” shows how abandonment and contemporary life are intertwined: the presence of man is recognizable in the plants, which have been taken care of, while in the foreground the post sign and the old public telephone in the abandoned part of town recall the recent past.
La foto segnalata come vincitrice della sezione “Architettura totalitaria in rovina nella vita contemporanea” mostra l’intreccio tra abbandono e vita contemporanea, dove la presenza dell’uomo si manifesta nelle piante curate di fronte alla chiesa ancora attiva, mentre il simbolo delle poste ed il telefono pubblico, in primo piano nella parte abbandonata del borgo, sono espliciti richiami del passato recente.

At the same time, the abandonment and detachment from the ideals that conceived it are highlighted by the presence of the silent snow.

The photo receiving the special mention for the section “An imaginative look at architectures and the ideologies that created them” expresses a deep narrative elaboration through a conscious use of the history of Nazism and the symbolism it used to mark homosexuals inside concentration camps. The artistic process of the author is also shown by the strict stylistic coherence expressed in reproducing the intersection between architectures and graphic elements.
Il lavoro segnalato come vincitore della menzione “Uno sguardo immaginifico sulle architetture e sulle ideologie che le hanno prodotte”, esprime una profonda elaborazione narrativa attraverso l’uso consapevole della storia del nazismo e della simbologia ad esso annesso di marchiatura con un triangolo rosa degli uomini omossessuali all’interno dei campi di concentramento. L’elaborazione artistica autoriale si manifesta anche attraverso la rigorosa coerenza stilistica nella riproduzione delle architetture intrecciate alle componenti grafiche.
