Faur locomotive factory Repairing rolling stock and manufacturing steam locomotives
In 1921 Nicolae Malaxa founded a factory with main activities repairing rolling stock and manufacturing steam locomotives. The machinery tools were brought from Henchel factory from Germany. Since 1930 Romania ceased importing railway locomotives. During the WW2 Malaxa Factory made heavy weapons for Romanian Army. The comunist confiscated and nationalised in 1948 the factory and renamed 23 August. After 1989 was renamed FAUR and privatized.
