Montecatone Sanatorium was originally a sanatorium for patients with tuberculosis. It was built in the first half of the 30’s, and inaugurated by Benito Mussolini on October 25th, 1936.

The sanatorium had three different pavillions: one for soldiers, one for men and one for women. The Luigi Paolini pavillion was used until the beginning of the 80’s.
