A photo of one of the administration buildings of the abandoned oil refinery Plama Pleven located near the city of Pleven in Bulgaria.
The refinery was open in 1971 as a state-owned enterprise. In 1996 the whole facility was privatized, but the new owner failed to stabilize the company, so in 1998 an insolvency procedure started. The company officially announced bankruptcy in 1999. Following the bankruptcy, the assets were transferred to a new company called Nova Plama, but production was never restored. Nova Plama subsequently went bankrupt in 2006.
Even the refinery is not functioning, there are guards, so entering in there is strictly forbidden.
