Designed by the engineer Guido Savini, the Santarelli kindergarden was built between 1931 and 1932 on the site of the former convent of Santa Maria in Valverde, replacing a former nursery school that had to be demolished because it was no longer fit for the purpose.
The building comprises three blocks enclosing an inner courtyard on three sides, and a T-shaped portico. The wall frescoes in the rooms and chapel are by Forlì artist Francesco Olivucci.
