Felix “Iron” Dzerzhinsky was a Soviet statesman known for establishing and developing the Soviet secret police forces, serving as their director from 1917 to 1926.
The bronze sculpture of “Iron Felix” done by sculptors Gorevoy V.E. and Kubasov V.A. plus the architect Bukchaev V.B. was opened on 23 of October 1981. At the front side of granite pedestal is written “To Felix Edmundovitch Dzerzhinsky”. at the plinth backside are listed the project’s authors names.
