Going from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda you cannot miss this monument built, in 1983, to commemorate the friendship between Russia and  Georgia. It is a large round stone and concrete structure overlooking the Devil’s Valley in the Caucasus mountains.

It was decorated with large and colorful mosaics, depicting scenes from Georgian history in late socialist-realist manner, and it was also one of the last monuments of its kind to be erected in Georgia before the end of the Soviet Union.

The location is undoubtedly panoramic, offering an incredible view on the surrounding mountains and nowadays it is commonly referred to as a Sovietic panoramic point.
