The aerial ropeway was, during the late 19th century until the Second World War, one of the most famous modes of transport of ressources especially for mining. The company Adolf Bleichert & Co. Leipzig- Gohlis controlled most of the ropeway business back then, holding many patents and building ropeways worldwide.
Bleichert even built the first tourist tramway at Bolzano/Bozen, in 1913.
